The INTENT of the Church

Matthew 5:16 says “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”  The intent of the Church is to SHINE for the whole world to see more of God, and to praise His name.

  1. Hi. Why does church service last so long? Back when it was 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM it was too long (and it often went later). It’s one of the reasons I quit going. Now it is officially 10:30 to noon? Geez! If anything I thought there would be an effort to shorten the service, not lengthen it. Very few churches, even Catholic, have 90 minute services. Even college courses only last 50 minutes per class. Some go 1 hour and 20 minutes but they include a 5 to 10 minute stretch and bathroom break. I had an instructor who would say the amount of learning a person can do is inversely proportional to the amount of pain the butt can endure. Ninety minutes is a long time to sit on a wooden pew. The main things I go to church for are the Lord’s Supper (communion) with quiet reflection and a good sermon. I miss out on these because doing them takes 90 minutes of sitting. Thanks.
