The cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it the main focus of God’s message of salvation. But the cross is not a comforting symbol, so why would God use it as the symbol of our faith?
The Old Testament said that there were many signs that pointed to the birth of Jesus. The book of Matthew in the New Testament picked up on this as well. But why are these signs so important to us?
Acts chapter one tells about three promises that are better than any other promise found in Scripture. Do you know what those promises are? And do you know why they are so important to us?
In Matthew 28:18 Jesus says “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.” Hanging on to the power in those words alone. If all we have is Jesus, well then that is enough.
The storm was raging. The boat was going down. The disciples were terrified, but Jesus was sleeping. Why were the disciples petrified with fear? And why was Jesus so calm?
The best fishermen often have expensive rods and reels and lures. But these are only tools. If those tools don’t help them catch fish, they’re worthless. What tools do we use to “catch” souls for Jesus and how does Jesus turn us into “fishers of men”?
Some churches attempt to “target” specific groups or audiences. Could it be possible that in doing so we are losing focus of the whole ministry that Jesus called us for?
In John 6:15-21 it talks about the disciples being afraid of something. It wasn’t the storm, and they weren’t really afraid of Jesus. What was it that they were afraid of? And what did Jesus do to help them with their fear?
