As we close a great week of VBS, and a program that is clearly geared for the youth. What is it that the rest of us can get from this? How is God talking to us? What is it that God wants us to know about Him?
In Acts 2:42, fellowship was named as the 2nd thing that the first church was devoted to doing. Was this meant to be placed 2nd, and above the other things listed in this passage? Or is there more to this act of worship than we see on the surface?
Why do we go to church? What’s the goal of our church, and how do we accomplish that goal?
One moment Elijah was on top of the world feeling God’s power and presence flowing through his life. The next moment he finds himself at an all time low, fearing his own life. Searching for direction, protection and reason for life. He eventually finds God in a “still small voice.”
Paul tells us that we are engaged in a war. In a war with an enemy that we can not see. How will we ever make it through this war if we are not dressed for success?
The third step that Paul tells us to do for us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. He wants us to do what…to whom? Are you serious? Why?
In the 5th chapter of Ephesians Paul urges the church to look carefully how we walk. Making the best use of the time we have been given, because the days are evil. What is something that we must do to “redeem the time” that we have?
Paul writes that we should be like children and imitate our Heavenly Father. How does a child imitate their parent, how can we “imitate God” and what difference can that make to our witness as Christians?
We know that as Christians we’re supposed to live a different life than those around us. But how can we do that when we’re surrounded with so many temptations to do things we know we shouldn’t do?
Paul tells the Ephesians that they are to be a grown up mature church. But how would they know that they have accomplished that? What are the signs of a mature church?
